We were able to dispatch a team to the customer's home immediately, and they quickly got to work checking out the issue.  They found the damaged spring and discussed options with Mr. Nguyen, who decided he would rather replace the spring with a new one rather than have us try to repair the old one.  He said he wanted to avoid any possibility of this problem recurring by using the old spring.  Since we always carry a wide variety of springs with us, we had the proper replacement spring on hand and were able to get the old one replaced without any delay.  A quick check ensured the door now functions properly.
